If you need to know the lexile level of your textbook or of reading selections you want to use with your class, check out www.lexile.com and click on "search" to register. The educator page has free lexile resource kits, a huge lexile search database on textbooks and literature, a lexile analyzer for checking out text not found in the database and a lexile calculator for checking expected comprehension rates for students based on lexile level.
Here is a chart of approximate grade levels and Lexile ranges:
Gr 2 = 300-600
Gr 3 = 500-800
Gr 4 = 600-900
Gr 5 = 700-1000
Gr 6 = 800-1050
